Watch: Former BYU RB Tyler Allgeier Avoids Signing Utah Fan’s Hat

While Utah fans have been putting themselves in a tight spot with Big 12 fans after pushing back on the idea of a potential move to the Big 12, one conference member has a bit more disdain for the Utes than the rest.

The BYU Cougars have been a longtime rival of the Utah Utes, and while college rivalries are prominent in the hearts of most passionate fans, some athletes carry the torch of disdain for a rival far beyond their time in college.

That happens to be the case for former BYU running back Tyler Allgeier who recently turned away a fan at the Atlanta Falcons training camp when the fan made a joke by asking Allgeier to sign his Utah hat.

Allgeier ended up fist-bumping the fan after passing on the autograph, but despite the BYU product making it to the NFL, Allgeier remembers the rivalry like it was yesterday.

While rivalries are one thing, the Utah Utes are in a bind with the remaining members of the Pac-12 Conference. With nine teams remaining and realignment rumors breaking by the hour, Utah is on a sinking ship with the remainder of the Conference.

Regardless of what happens in the future with Utah and the Pac-12, the rivalry between the Cougars and the Utes has been one of the best in all of college athletics in recent years, and with the Big 12 raising tensions by snagging Colorado from the Pac-12, the rivalry between the Utes and Cougars should only get better.
