The walls seem to be closing in on all current members of the Pac-12 Conference and with Colorado officially on the way out to join the Big 12 Conference in 2024, Arizona is on the shot clock.

According to a recent report from Jason Scheer of WildcatAuthority, Arizona has scheduled a Board of Regents meeting on Tuesday that was not previously scheduled until Monday afternoon.

While dominos can fall fast in conference realignment, the announcement of a Board of Regents meeting is big news considering the state of the conference. As it stands now, the Pac-12 Conference is reportedly planning to unveil its proposed media rights deal with the remaining nine schools tomorrow in hopes of reaching a deal to keep the conference together.

With Arizona’s Board of Regents set to meet on the same day, a likely possibility that the Wildcats will meet to discuss the offer if one is presented, and if they are disappointed in what they hear, a potential move to the Big 12 is on the table.

The meeting is currently listed on Arizona’s website as a special board meeting but no agenda has been listed yet. With multiple teams hearing their names pop up in rumors of potential conference expansion, the Arizona Wildcats make a lot of sense for Brett Yormark and the Big 12 Conference to go after.

While it’s safe to say things of this magnitude happen at a slow rate over a period of months, Colorado’s move to the Big 12 put every team in the Pac-12 on overtime in fear of being left behind.
