Mike Gundy Says Oklahoma State Might Play Multiple Quarterbacks This Season

When Oklahoma State Cowboys fans saw their starting quarterback from the previous season hit the transfer portal back in December, many wondered who would be stepping up to fill the spot in 2023.

With multiple capable quarterbacks on the roster eyeing the starting job, Oklahoma State head coach Mike Gundy didn’t make the answer any easier by mentioning that the Cowboys could start multiple quarterbacks in the upcoming season.

Gundy spoke to 247Sports’ Cody Nagel on Saturday and when it came to the QB position, Gundy said, “We might play multiple quarterbacks. If there’s two guys that deserve to play, we’ll play both guys.”

Oklahoma State’s quarterback room is currently composed of Michigan transfer Alan Bowman, who many expect to start in Week 1, but Gunnar Gundy and Garret Rangel appear to be strongly under consideration for at least a certain amount of playing time.

Bowman, who was presumably brought in to compete for the starting job, has reportedly looked very good this offseason and should have a serious shot to take over the reins in Stillwater.

Oklahoma State has four weeks to figure out who gets the start before their season opener on September 2nd against Central Arkansas.
