Watch: K-State Forward David N’Guessan Shines With Netherlands Olympic Team

While the rest of the members of the Kansas State Wildcats basketball team are currently on a trip to Israel, one Wildcat is doing big things as a member of the Netherlands Olympic Basketball Team.

Kansas State forward David N’Guessan grew up playing basketball in the Netherlands, and after spending time at the Division 1 level with Virginia Tech and Kansas State, N’Guessan was asked to be a member of the Deutsch Olympic team which is currently competing in the qualifying rounds.

ESPN analyst Fran Fraschilla shared a highlight video of N’Guessan putting up big numbers in the FIBA Olympic pre-qualifying game where the Deutsch team narrowly lost to team Sweden in overtime, 91-89. N’Guessan finished off his day with 17 points and nine rebounds in 34 minutes of action.

While college basketball players joining their Olympic team isn’t out of the ordinary, the likelihood of two players from the same conference playing as teammates in the event is definitely unlikely. N’Guessan is joined by West Virginia’s new forward, Jesse Edwards who announced his decision to head to Morgantown following a stint with Syracuse.

The pair combined for 35 points and 17 rebounds in the Group D matchup, and with six more days remaining in the FIBA Olympic pre-qualifying tournament, the duo has a shot to put up some more big numbers for their home country.
