LOOK: Big 12 Coaches Name Their Favorite Music Artists
Recently, Action Network gathered some very interesting takes from Big 12 coaches, and it’s already starting to get some traction on social media.
According to Brett McMurphy, Action Sports has the favorite music artist of every Big 12 coach in 2023, and there are definitely some intriguing takes on the list.

- Kansas State’s Chris Klieman: Cole Swindell
- Oklahoma’s Brent Venables: Kane Brown
- Oklahoma State’s Mike Gundy: Prince

- Texas Tech’s Joey McGuire: George Strait

The first thing that jumps off the list, at least for me, was Brent Venables’ selection of Kane Brown… C’mon man. My wife likes Kane Brown, but I didn’t marry her for her taste in music. I expected something like Metallica or maybe even Nirvana, but Kane Brown? Can’t say that I agree there coach.
Joey McGuire’s pick of George Strait is on-brand for a West Texas man-at-heart, and Neal Brown’s selection of Zach Bryan makes perfect sense for a West Virginia head coach.
Kalani Sitake loving some Bob Marley just cracks me up for some reason. Perhaps it’s because he was our first-round draft pick for the All-Big 12 Bar Fight tea earlier this summer.
The best one on this list? Mike Gundy choosing Prince. I could’ve guessed 25 times and never have pegged Gundy, the Oklahoma State Cowboys head coach, a big-time Prince fan. But, who doesn’t love some Purple Rain every now and again?
