Watch: Massive Fight Breaks Out at Kansas State Fraternity Basketball Event
While Greek life on campus can be a great way for students to make friends and interact with people of all different backgrounds, one Big 12 school tried to change that narrative with a massive fight breaking out over the weekend.
Kansas State Fraternity, Phi Delta Theta, hosts an event each year for the new pledges of each Fraternity to play 3-on-3 basketball games in front of sorority members and fellow pledges. This year’s “pledgesketball” game got a little extra heated and broke out into a major scrap.
Kansas State Greek Life affiliated itself with the university after a major policy change on how student organizations were categorized, whether that be affiliated with the university as a departmental student organization (DSO), or unaffiliated with the university as an independent student organization (ISO).
This new rule change affected fraternities’ and sororities’ statuses as organizations affiliated with K-State, and while the rule change was groundbreaking for clubs and organizations on campus, the Phi Delt fistfight could put that in jeopardy.
While the backyard brawl is making the rounds on social media at the moment, it’s safe to say this is a rare occurrence for the event. Whether K-State lets the event happen next year or not, whenever college kids start throwing haymakers, it’s nearly always a tough look.
