Sonny Dykes, Jeremiah Donati Apologize to TCU Fans For This Mistake

The TCU Horned Frogs waited until December to lose a football game last season, but this year it came Week 1 on Saturday against Colorado. And it wasn’t just issues on-the-field that caused some issues for the Horned Frogs, but also some post-game mistakes that came to light.

TCU was getting criticized by fans for not staying to sing the fight song after the game. Here’s an example.

The first post-game comments on this came from athletic director Jeremiah Donati, who took full responsibility for the miscommunication, pointing out this is the first home loss for this coaching staff.

Then, head coach Sonny Dykes responded on X after the game, saying, “We also owe our fan base an apology. We didn’t communicate the expectation win or lose to stand with our fans and band for the alma mater, that won’t happen again. Appreciate your understanding and support.”

I’m sure TCU fans will forgive Dykes, who of course led this team to a National Championship Game last season. But obviously this is salt in the wound as TCU went into this home game against the Buffaloes as a 20-point favorite.

TCU is back home next week against Nicholls State.
