The Kansas Jayhawks picked up a solid 2024 recruit on Monday night with the addition of four-star prospect Labaron Philon.
Philon’s commitment comes the day after his official visit wrapped up in Lawrence over the weekend. The 6’3” point chose the Jayhawks over Alabama, Ole Miss, and Cincinnati. He was previously committed to Auburn is spending his senior season at Branson (Mo.) Link Academy.
Philon made his announcement to On3 on Monday night and said, “I chose Kansas because my game can fit into their system really well. Coach (Bill) Self is one of the best coaches ever and I can come in and make a big impact for the team.”
According to 247Sports, Philon is ranked as a Top-30 national recruit, while ranking as the No. 3 point guard in the country and No. 2 player in Missouri.
His message to Jayhawks fans is: “To the KU fans, I would like to thank you all for helping me through the way and love you guys! You guys got a dawg coming to Lawrence soon, ROCK CHALK❤️💙”
Philon is the second commit for 2024, joining five-star center Flory Bidunga.
