Oklahoma Lands 2026 Four-Star RB Jonathan Hatton Jr.

Brent Venables and the Oklahoma Sooners added their first commitment to the class of 2026 landing four-star running back Jonathan Hatton.

Hatton chose the Sooners over 12 different schools, three of which are current members of the Big 12 Conference. Oklahoma beat out the likes of Baylor, Houston, and Texas Tech to earn the commitment of Jonathan Hatton Jr.

Hatton is listed as a four-star prospect by the 247Sports index and currently checks in as the nation’s 79th-ranked prospect. The Texas native is also listed as the fifth-ranked running back in the class of 2026 and the eighth-ranked player in the state of Texas.

Hatton sat down to discuss his recruitment with On3Sports’ Hayes Fawcett and mentioned his relationship with Sooners’ running back coach Demarco Murray as a compelling factor in his commitment.

“I’m closest with coach Murray,” Hatton said. “They’re wanting me to be the man and help me build my game for the next level.”

Hatton Jr. is currently a sophomore at Steele High School in Cibolo Texas and will have some time before stepping onto the turf in Norman. Hatton will get to watch his future team take the field in Week 6 in the Red River Rivalry against No. 3 Texas on Saturday, October 7th.
