Oklahoma, Texas Move Slightly, Kansas Drops Off Top 25 of Week 8 AP Poll

After a wild week of Big 12 football, with several underdogs winning on Saturday, there were some major shake-ups across the AP Poll this week.

Two Big 12 teams are ranked this week, with the Oklahoma Sooners dropping from No. 5 to No. 6, and the Texas Longhorns jumping from No. 9 to No. 8.

Things started early with Houston outlasting West Virginia 41-39 on Thursday night winning outright after being listed as three-point underdogs at kickoff. Then on Saturday morning, Iowa State handled Cincinnati 30-10, continuing the narrative of Iowa State contending for a Big 12 title. In the first afternoon game of the day, Oklahoma State pulled off their second-straight upset with a 39-32 win over 23rd-ranked Kansas. TCU got back into the win column on Saturday afternoon with a massive 44-11 win over the BYU Cougars easily covering the 5.5-point spread. Then in the night game, Kansas State, who entered Saturday’s matchup as a 1-point underdog, secured a commanding win over the Texas Tech Red Raiders 38-21.

Kansas (2), West Virginia (1), and Oklahoma State (1) all received votes in this week’s poll.
