Oklahoma, Texas Remain Only Top 25 Big 12 Teams for Week 9

After a wild week of Big 12 football with several underdogs winning on Saturday, things went relatively as planned in the AP Poll this week.
Two Big 12 teams are ranked this week, with the Oklahoma Sooners remaining at No. 6, and the Texas Longhorns jumping from No. 8 to No. 7.
Things started early with Baylor outlasting Cincinnati 32-29 on Saturday morning, winning outright after being listed as three-point underdogs at kickoff. Then in the second game of the morning, Oklahoma narrowly escaped with a 31-29 win over UCF following a brutal two-point failure which would have tied the game up with less than a minute to go. In the first afternoon game of the day, Oklahoma State exploded for nearly 50 points in their third-straight win beating the West Virginia Mountaineers 48-34. Texas flew close to the sun as well on Saturday sneaking out a victory over Houston 31-24 to advance to 6-1 on the season. Then in the first of the two night games, BYU got back into the win column with a 27-14 statement win over Joey McGuire and Texas Tech, easily covering the 4.5-point spread. Kansas State then wrapped things up with a commanding 41-3 win over Sonny Dykes and the Horned Frogs to continue their hunt towards back-to-back title game appearances.
Kansas State (16) and Oklahoma State (5) both received votes in this week’s poll.
