Jalon Daniels Doubtful to Play vs. Oklahoma

The Kansas Jayhawks will likely be without their star quarterback Jalon Daniels for the fourth straight week after being listed as doubtful for Saturday’s contest. Daniels will miss out on a matchup in Lawrence against Brent Venables and the undefeated Oklahoma Sooners.
Daniels missed the previous three weeks against Texas, UCF, and Oklahoma State, and despite his team starting off hot in the 2023 season and earning bigs in the AP Top 25, the Jayhawks are getting closer and closer to a breaking point with the absence of Daniels.
Daniels missed the first game of the season due to a lingering back injury, but he returned to the field for three games in a row before aggravating the back on September 30th ahead of the Texas game.
Veteran backup Jason Bean has been solid in relief of Daniels but with high expectations for the Big 12 Preseason Player of the Year to have some success on the field in his junior season, Kansas fans are once again at the mercy of the injury bug.
The Jayhawks turn to Jason Bean for the fifth time this season, who boasts a 2-2 record as the starter in Lance Leipold’s system this season. The Texas native enters Saturday’s matchup with 62 completions for 913 yards and a touchdown to interception ratio of 9-2. Freshman Cole Ballard will be Bean’s backup on Saturday pending any updates to Jalon Daniels.
Bean and the Jayhawks take the field as 10-point underdogs against the Sooners in Lawrence with hopes of returning to the AP Top 25 in Week 9 in the event that the squad pulls off a massive upset over the top dogs in the Big 12.
