Oklahoma Lands 2024 Four-Star Safety Reggie Powers

Brent Venables and the Oklahoma Sooners added a new name to the class of 2024 with the commitment of four-star safety Reggie Powers.

Powers elected to join the Sooners after receiving offers from 33 different programs including Ohio State, UCLA, Pittsburgh, Michigan State, and more.

Powers is listed as a four-star prospect by the 247Sports index and currently ranks as the nation’s 154th-ranked prospect. He also checks in as the 11th-ranked safety in the class and the seventh-overall prospect in the state of Ohio.

National recruiting analyst Allen Trieu spoke about Powers saying, “Physically strong, well-built prospect who also has a basketball background. Has been to events and verified size and also put up solid testing numbers which include good agility times at his size. Has good play speed, is aggressive, and shows instincts and ability to diagnose plays in run support. Is an excellent box defender. Shows that he can also play in coverage. Ultimately is likely a strong safety or hybrid defender depending on the scheme but is a high-floor prospect who can fit into the framework of multiple defenses and be effective.”

Reggie Powers now joins the Sooners 2024 class of incoming freshmen which currently ranks fourth in the SEC. Powers joins a combination of two five-star players, 16 four-star players, and 10 three-star prospects in the class of 2024 recruits headed to Norman.

Powers and the rest of Oklahoma’s commits will have a chance to watch their future team take the field against Oklahoma State in the final game of the Bedlam rivalry on Saturday, November 4th.
