Steve Sarkisian on Texas QB Room: ‘All Three Guys Are NFL Starters’

While having three straight quarterbacks make it to the NFL level as solid starters isn’t very common, Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian believes that his quarterback room is one of the few.
Sarkisian discussed the quarterback room with former USC quarterback Matt Leinart who was a part of one of the country’s best with Matt Cassel and Carson Palmer. Sark mentioned that the combination of Quinn Ewers, Maalik Murphy, and Arch Manning are all going to be NFL starters one day.
“I think back to sitting with you, Carson, and with Matt Cassel and all three of you starting quarterbacks in the NFL,” Sarkisian said. “I think this room is just like that. I have no bones about it. All three of those guys are going to be starters in the NFL.”
Ewers is the headliner of the group and has already earned some well-deserved buzz among NFL scouts, but is joined in the room by two big-time quarterbacks in Maalik Murphy and Arch Manning.
Murphy stepped into the starting lineup for the Longhorns in place of the injured Quinn Ewers and took the field in Week 10 for his second career start against Kansas State. Manning has yet to take snaps under center for Texas this season but with the last name of Manning, odds are the top quarterback in the class of 2022 will pan out.
The Longhorns have a massive game in Week 10 in Kansas State as they look to claim the top spot in the Big 12 with a win over the defending Big 12 champs.
