How To Watch Big 12 Biggest Men’s Basketball Games For Week 1
The Big 12 men’ basketball season tips off on Monday with games around the country and just about every team in action the first night.
Here’s the complete schedule, how to watch each game and, if you’re so inclined, the three must-watch games of the week.
Kansas State vs. USC
How To Watch: 9 p.m. CT, Monday, TNT (at Las Vegas Nev.)
T-Mobile Arena will host the Hall of Fame Series with the Wildcats and the Trojans coming into the game with questions marks.
For Kansas State, it’s the indefinite suspension of forward Nae’Qwan Tomlin, something coach Jerome Tang says he’s treating as an “injury” and if he comes back, it’s a bonus. That doesn’t bode well for Tomlin’s future.
For USC, it’s Bronny James, the son of LeBron James. The freshman suffered a cardiac arrest this summer, which was caused by a congenital heart defect that his father said “can and will be treated.”
But, on Monday night, Bronny James will not play.
It should still be a must-watch game. Kansas State reached last year’s Elite Eight and is now led by transfer guard Tylor Perry. The Trojans went to the NCAA Tournament last year and has the nation’s No. 1 prospect in Isaiah Collier.
Baylor vs. Auburn
How to Watch: 8 p.m. CT, Tuesday, ESPN (at Sioux Falls, S.D.)
The Sanford Pentagon has become a popular neutral site. Baylor played there last year against Gonzaga, and Tuesday the Bears will face Auburn. Both teams reached the NCAA Tournament last season, so it’s a good measuring stick game.
The Bears get to show off their incredible freshman class, led by Ja’Kobe Walter. But they’ll be led initially by forward Jalen Bridges, guard Langston Love and transfers like RayJ Dennis.
Auburn has a stacked roster once again after reaching the second round of the NCAA Tournament before losing to Baylor’s new Big 12 rival, Houston.
UCF at Miami (FL)
How to Watch: 6 p.m. CT (7 p.m. ET), ACCNX
Yes, it won’t be easy to find, but it will be worth it if you’re trying to learn more about UCF, as this will likely be their toughest game in non-conference.
The Knights, led by coach Johnny Dawkins, lost plenty to both the NBA Draft and the transfer portal and will focus on getting offense from returning guard Darius Johnson, transfer guard Shermarri Allen and transfer guard Jaylin Sellers.
Miami is coming off a trip to the Final Four and still has former Kansas State guard Nijel Pack.
