Oklahoma Lands 2025 Three-Star Edge Alexander Shieldnight

Brent Venables and the Oklahoma Sooners added a new name to the Class of 2025 with the commitment of three-star edge Alexander Shieldnight.
Shieldnight choose the Sooners over the likes of eight other schools including Oklahoma State, Texas Tech, Houston, Kansas, and more.
Shieldnight is listed as a three-star prospect by the 247Sports index and currently checks in as the nation’s 473rd-ranked prospect. He also is listed as the 47th-ranked edge rusher in his class as well as the 11th-ranked player in the state of Oklahoma.
247Sports analyst Gabe Brooks broke down the newest Sooners’ high school film saying, “Shieldnight is a highly productive defensive standout with an encouraging athletic profile that includes basketball and track. Verified in the 6-foot-2, 220-pound range, Shieldnight, who debuts as a strong three-star 86-rated prospect on 247Sports, is a high-motor front-line defender who plays with a hand on the ground, but likely projects to a two-point edge role, or perhaps even a traditional off-ball Mike linebacker, depending on scheme.”
Shieldnight and the rest of the Sooners’ 2025 Class will have an opportunity to watch their future team take the field in Week 11 as No. 17 Oklahoma hosts the West Virginia Mountaineers in Norman.
