Houston Cougars

Look: 247Sports Forgets Houston on List of 2024 Big 12 Teams

While conference realignment continues to alter collegiate athletic conferences and the teams in each league, the Houston Cougars will be entering their second year in the Big 12 Conference in the 2024 season.

247Sports made headlines on Friday afternoon with their list discussing the most notable needs by position in the Big 12 Conference but made the mistake of forgetting to include Houston on the list.

While the graphic was made to show which positions should be the most important target areas for each team in the Big 12 Conference in the 2024 season, the decision to move on without the Cougars took the cake for the most eye-catching portion of the graphic.

Houston could be a big player in the transfer portal when it opens on December 4th as Dana Holgorsen and the Cougars utilized the portal to land their starting quarterback for the 2023 season with the addition of former Texas Tech signal caller Donovan Smith.

The Cougars have been inconsistent in 2023 with wins over programs like UTSA, West Virginia, and Baylor and losses to Rice, TCU, Texas Tech, and more. Dana Holgorsen’s squad takes the field on Saturday, November 18th against Mike Gundy and the No. 24 Oklahoma State Cowboys at 3:00 PM CT.
