Cincinnati TE Chamon Metayer Enters Transfer Portal

Scott Satterfield and the Cincinnati Bearcats got some bad news on Monday morning with the announcement of tight end Chamon Metayer entering the transfer portal.

Metayer is a big loss for the Bearcats as the sophomore pass-catcher currently leads the tight end room with 23 catches for 258 yards and five touchdowns this season.

Metayer joined the Bearcats in 2021 as an all-around athlete with experience playing multiple positions. The Florida native was listed as a three-star prospect by the 247Sports index and checked in as the 45th-ranked athlete in the country, and the 78th-ranked player in the state of Florida.

Despite losing one of their top targets in the passing game Cincinnati gets set to take on Lance Leipold and the Kansas Jayhawks in hopes of ending their season off on a high note. Leipold’s squad is fresh off of a 31-27 loss in the Sunflower Showdown to Kansas State but should be on the hunt early in hopes of earning their eighth win of the 2023 season.

Metayer checked in as the Beacats’ third-ranked receiver trailing only Xzavier Henderson (752) and Braden Smith (542). Satterfield will now have to look to junior tight end Payten Singletary to pick up some of the production in the tight end room following the loss of Chamon Metayer. Singletary has recorded a total of 12 grabs for 115 yards and two scores this season.

The Bearcats take the field in Week 13 against Kansas on Saturday, November 25th at 6:30 PM CT on ESPN2.
