Kansas Leads Four Big 12 Teams in AP Men’s Top 25 Poll
Four Big 12 teams remained among the nation’s best as the Associated Press Men’s Basketball Top 25 was released after the season’s second week of games.
The Big 12 ranked teams included:
Kansas at No. 1 (No. 1 last week);
Houston at No. 6 (No. 6 last week);
Baylor at No. 13 (No. 15 last week);
Texas at No. 15 (No. 19 last week).
Kansas (3-0) played just one game last week, beating then No. 17 Kentucky, 89-84. The Jayhawks are headed to Hawaii for the annual Maui Classic, where they open play with Chaminade on Monday. After that, there is potential for the Jayhawks to face two ranked teams.
Houston (6-0) defeated Stetson, 79-64, Towson, 65-49, and Utah, 76-66. Then the Cougars ended the week with a win over Dayton to wrap up a four-game week. Houston will play just one game this week against Montana at home on Friday.
Baylor (4-0) played just one game last week, beating UMKC 99-61. The Bears are preparing to face Oregon State in the NIT Season Tip-Off in Brooklyn, NY. The Bears will face either Pitt or Florida in the next game, depending upon the outcome.
Texas (4-0) beat Rice at home, 80-64, and then defeated Louisville, on Sunday in the Saatva Empire Classic at Madison Square Garden in New York City. On Monday, Texas will face UConn. Texas is then off until Sunday when they host Wyoming.
