Two Big 12 Freshman Rank in On3’s Top 10 Freshman Power Rankings

While the Big 12 Conference features some of the nation’s top freshmen each season of college hoops, two freshmen in the Big 12 are standing above the rest in the eyes of On3Sports.

Baylor guard Ja’Kobe Walter and Iowa State forward Milan Momcilovic both earned spots on the list from On3’s Jamie Shaw with Walter earning the No. 2 spot, and Momcilovic at No. 5.

Shaw started off by raving about Ja’Kobe Walter saying, “Ja’Kobe Walter started his season with a 28-point output in a win against Auburn. Walter continued to show off his efficient scoring chops by averaging 18.0 points and shooting 39.1 percent from three while leading his Baylor team to a 4-0 start. Walter’s play has him climbing up NBA Draft boards while his Bears are currently sitting at No. 13 in the A.P. Polls.”

Iowa State forward Milan Momcilovic checked in at No. 5 with Shaw mentioning, “Milan Momcilovic has been able to showcase a unique scoring feel. Iowa State was expecting a freshman to make an impact this season, however, that freshman was Five-Star Plus+ forward Omaha Biliew. Now sitting at 4-0, Iowa State’s leading scorer is Momcilovic. The 6-foot-8 forward is shooting 55.6 percent from the field, 60.0 percent from three, and 87.5 percent from the free-throw line. His offensive arsenal is impressive, especially with his footwork and shooting touch.”

The Big 12 Conference continues to put top-tier freshmen on the map across the college basketball scene and while Walter and Momcilovic have an early lead over the rest of the league’s freshmen, Big 12 fans should expect to see many more names in the near future.
