Former Texas Tech Player Fardaws Aimaq Climbs Into Stands to Confront Fan Who Allegedly Called Him a Terrorist
While former Texas Tech forward Fardaws Aimaq made headlines on Monday by climbing into the stands to confront a fan at the Cal-UTEP basketball game, the University of California released a statement on Aimaq’s actions and added some much-needed context to the situation.
Cal head coach Mark Madsen spoke on the situation saying, “Fardaws Aimaq was allegedly subjected to abhorrent and offensive comments from a fan, including being called a terrorist. I have asked the SoCal tournament director that a former investigation be conducted and that this fan be barred from the premises.”
After catching wind of the comments from the deranged fan, Aimaq jumped into the stands and threatened the player in a face-to-face standoff saying, “You want to talk some s***? I’ll slap the f*** out of you, b****.”
Aimaq elected to enter the transfer portal immediately after Texas Tech’s loss to West Virginia in the Big 12 Tournament and decided that heading to Cal would be his next stop. California marks the fourth school for Aimaq in the past five seasons with stops at Mercer, Utah Valley, Texas Tech, and now Cal.
Despite the off-the-court circumstances surrounding his decision to climb into the stands, the Vancouver native is having a great start to the 2023-24 season averaging 17.2 points and 9.7 rebounds per game. Aimaq and the Bears take the court on Saturday, November 25th against San Diego State.
