Jerome Tang Provides Update on Senior Forward Nae’Qwan Tomlin
Despite Kansas State head coach Jerome Tang indefinitely suspending senior forward Nae’Qwan Tomlin for his disorderly conduct arrest back in October, the relationship between Tomlin and the team seems to be on the mend as the New York native returned to the bench for the Wildcats on Wednesday.
Tomlin broke his social media silence on Wednesday afternoon by announcing that he would be giving away turkeys to those in need of one on Thanksgiving, hours before tipoff against Central Arkansas. Nae’Qwan Tomlin was inactive against the Bears but his return to the bench could mean a potential return to the court is near.
Jerome Tang was asked about Tomlin’s return following the 100-56 win on Wednesday night and provided a lengthy update about the need to support Tomlin rather than isolate him from the team.
“Nothing’s changed,” Tang said. “There’s a certain process in this that’s being taken care of, and now we move on to the next part of things. I wanted Nae’Qwan around the team because it’s not good for him to be by himself and isolated. That’s never good for someone to not be around the people that love him, and have him go through this by himself. So he’s been at practices with us. He hasn’t been practicing because his ankle is still hurt, but he’s been at practice and he’s been in film sessions. And all our mentor meetings and stuff and so he is still a part of this team, just not active”
The update from Tang is a big change as the last update on Tomlin’s situation left a possible return up in the air in Manhattan. The Wildcats will likely be without Tomlin for a duration of time as he rehabs an ankle injury, but with the potential NBA lottery pick back on the sidelines for K-State, Jerome Tang’s squad brought another key playmaker back in the house.
Kansas State will take the court next on Tuesday, November 28th against the Oral Roberts Golden Eagles in Manhattan in Week 4.
