Bruce Feldman Calls Dave Aranda a ‘Hot Seat Situation to Watch’

While it’s no secret that the Baylor Bears underwhelmed in 2023 in the fourth year of the Dave Aranda era, the hot-seat conversations surrounding Aranda at Baylor continue to heat up.

The Athletic‘s Bruce Feldman highlighted Aranda as a possible hot-seat situation to watch mentioning that the continuous losses on Aranda’s resume helped to make the coaching conversation in Waco a little bit spicier.

Feldman brought up the Bears’ disappointing performance in 2023 saying, “Another hot seat situation to watch is at Baylor. The Bears are 3-8 and finish against West Virginia on Saturday in Waco. Baylor has lost four in a row, and the pressure is mounting on Dave Aranda. It wasn’t that long ago Aranda led Baylor to a No. 5 ranking with a 12-2 record in 2021, but the Bears are 9-15 since then. The Baylor administration really likes Aranda, and I’m told that if he presents a plan to make some key changes it likes, he probably will be back in 2024.”

Conversations surrounding Aranda’s position in Waco have heated up recently with Baylor losing four straight games since beating Cincinnati 32-29 back in Week 8. Feldman isn’t the only one highlighting Aranda’s unstable future with the program as BetOnline Sportsbook recently listed Aranda as the favorite to be the next head college football coach fired in 2023.

Despite the uncertainty left in Aranda’s time with Baylor, his team gets set to close out the 2023 season against West Virginia on Saturday, November 25th at 6:00 PM CT.
