Gus Malzahn Shoots Down Rumors He Might Leave UCF
While the college football season coming to an end means a break in the action, it also means that coaches are soon to be on the move.
One coach brought up in coaching carousel conversations was UCF head coach Gus Malzahn. Malzahn shot down rumors of him leaving Central Florida following the Knights’ 27-13 win over Houston.
Malzahn was asked about his commitment to UCF and responded by eliminating all doubt about a possible job change.
“Yeah, I’m going to be the coach here,” Malzahn said. “I love it here. Obviously, we had ups and downs but this future is bright at this place, everyone knows it. The way we’re recruiting. Today was big, I mean there’s no doubt. You go to a bowl, and you get a chance to win a bowl, but there are great things ahead. We had some growing pains this year but that’s behind us. You learn from it, but I’m excited for the future.”
With the win on Saturday, Malzahn earned his sixth win of the year at Central Florida which grants bowl eligibility to his team for the eighth-straight season. The eight-year streak is the longest stretch of bowl-eligible seasons in program history.
UCF will now have a shot to close out the season at a bowl game following the win after they became the league’s ninth bowl-eligible team of the 2023 season.
