With Week 3 of the college basketball season officially in the books, the Big 12 Conference announced two players that would be taking home the third iteration of the Big 12 Basketball Weekly Awards for the 2023-24 season.
Kansas guard Kevin McCullar earned the title of Big 12 Player of the Week after three straight solid performances in the Maui Invitational. McCullar started off by recording his second-straight triple-double with 22 points, 11 rebounds, and 10 assists before back-to-back matchups against top 10 teams. The fifth-year senior totaled 24 points on 64.3% shooting from the field against No. 4 Marquette and followed it up with 14 points and eight rebounds against No. 7 Tennessee.
Baylor’s RayJ Dennis had an outstanding week of basketball earning NIT Season Tip-Off MVP honors after recording 24 points and eight assists against Florida to win their non-conference tournament 95-91. Dennis totaled eight points and six rebounds in the game prior against Oregon State which brought his weekly total to 16 PPG, 7.0 ASP, and 4.5 RPG, in 33.5 minutes played.
UCF guard Jaylin Sellers was incredible against Stetson finishing with a career-high 34 points on 75% shooting from the field. The 34-point outing for Sellers included the most points in a single game for any player in the Big 12 Conference this season, according to the official release. On Monday night, Sellers led the Knights to a 74-71 win over Charlotte with 19 points and six rebounds. Sellers finished the week off averaging 26.5 points and seven rebounds per game.
