Longhorn Carcass Dumped Oklahoma State Frat House Ahead of Big 12 Title Game

NCAA Football: Texas Tech at Oklahoma State

The Oklahoma State Cowboys (9-3, 7-2) will appear in their second Big 12 Championship in three years on Saturday, where they will face the seventh-ranked Texas Longhorns (11-1, 8-1).

While the rivalry between these two teams isn’t quite as intense as it is between the Longhorns and Sooners, it’s certainly been a heated matchup over the last several years. It wasn’t that long ago that Tom Herman and Mike Gundy were ready to go 12 rounds in the fourth quarter of a game in Stillwater, leading to Gundy’s famous “are you not entertained” GIF that makes its rounds every fall.

However, this matchup will have more on the line with not only a Big 12 Championship but it will also be the last matchup between the Longhorns and Cowboys for the foreseeable future.

While this is a massive matchup, it appears that some folks are just taking things way too far. On Friday morning, just a day before the much-anticipated matchup, a longhorn carcass was apparently dumped on the front lawn of the Farmhouse fraternity house at Oklahoma State.

According to the O’Colly, the carcass was reported to Stillwater Police Department at 6:39 a.m. on Friday morning. In a statement from the university, a spokesperson said that OSU is “appalled” by this act of animal cruelty.

“Oklahoma State University is appalled at the disturbing display of animal cruelty that occurred overnight at an off-campus location near a fraternity house,” the statement said. “The Stillwater Police Department is investigating the incident, and the university’s Office of Student Support and Conduct also has initiated an investigation.

“Oklahoma State expects all students to adhere to university codes of conduct, and appropriate action will be taken based on the outcome of the investigation.”

If a guilty party is found, they could face charges on animal cruelty, which is a felony in the State of Oklahoma.

SPD Lieutenant TJ Low says that there aren’t any leads at the moment but security footage is being pulled from the fraternity house in question, as well as from the surrounding houses. Low also says that they’ll be asking cattle farmers in the surrounding area about the incident, considering there aren’t cattle in Stillwater city limits.

“I think they’re (investigators) just hoping to find out the cause of the death,” Low said. “They’re trying to find out through the camera footage in the area, maybe a vehicle, obviously a vehicle, or somebody brought the cow there.”

Oklahoma State and Texas will kickoff the 2023 Big 12 Championship at 11:00 a.m. CT on Saturday at AT&T Stadium in Arlington (Tex.). The Longhorns are currently favored by 15.5 points.
