The answer West Virginia fans have been waiting for is finally here, West Virginia Head Coach Neal Brown will return to the sidelines for the Mountaineers in 2024.
Brown entered 2023 planted firmly in the hot seat in the eyes of West Virginia fans, but after finishing with an impressive 8-4 overall record and a conference record of 6-3, Brown will be retained for another year.
Despite fans clamoring for Jimbo Fisher to return to WVU, Brown weathered the storm earning wins over Duquesne, Pittsburgh, Texas Tech, TCU, UCF, BYU, Cincinnati, and Baylor en route to a third-place Big 12 finish alongside Iowa State and Kansas State.
Brown accepted the job at West Virginia in 2019 after leading Troy to a 35-16 record from 2015-2018. Brown’s 8-4 record in 2023 brought his overall record with the Mountaineers to 30-29, and 20-24 in conference play.
West Virginia brings in the seventh-ranked recruiting class in 2024 among future Big 12 teams trailing Kansas, Cincinnati, Arizona, TCU, UCF, and Texas Tech. Neal Brown will have an opportunity to continue trending in the right direction as the Big 12 Conference continues to grow.
