Texas Opens as Four-Point Favorite Over Washington in Allstate Sugar Bowl

NCAA Football: Baylor at Texas

The third-ranked Texas Longhorns (12-1) will face No. 2 Washington (13-0) in the Allstate Sugar Bowl on January 1, 2024, with the winner moving on to the National Championship game.

Despite being the lower-ranked team in the matchup, it’s Texas who is favored in the game according to the opening lines from BetOnline.com. In fact, the Longhorns are favored by just over a field goal in the matchup, coming in as a 4.0-point favorite over the Huskies.

Texas is fresh off a 49-21 Big 12 Championship win over Oklahoma State. The Longhorns held OSU star Ollie Gordon to just 34 rushing yards in the dominant victory.

Texas went 12-1 this season with wins over four teams ranked in the AP Top 25. Sarkisian’s group earned a signature win on the road in Week 2 against his former team, the Alabama Crimson Tide, 34-24. The Longhorns also took down No. 24 Kansas, No. 23 Kansas State, and No. 18 Oklahoma State en route to competing for their first National Championship since 2009.

In the College Football Playoff, they will face No. 2 Washington (13-0), who is fresh off a Pac-12 Championship win against Oregon. The Longhorns and Huskies, who faced off in the Alamo Bowl last season, will match up in the Allstate Sugar Bowl on January 1, with kickoff scheduled for 7:45 p.m. CT on ESPN.
