UCF Football to Play Georgia Tech in Gasparilla Bowl

The UCF Knights are headed to the Gasparilla Bowl later this month to take on the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets, according to the Action Network’s Brett McMurphy.

The game is set for Friday, December 22nd at 5:30 p.m. central. The game will be at Raymond James Stadium.

UCF is coming off a 6-6 season in what was their first in the Big 12 Conference after moving up from the AAC. The Knights got off to a 3-5 start but rallied to win three of their final four games against Cincinnati, Oklahoma State, and Houston to reach the 6-6 mark to become bowl-eligible.

Meanwhile, Georgia Tech is fresh off of a fourth-place finish in the ACC with an overall record of 6-6, going 5-3 in league play. The Blue Devils earned wins against Miami, North Carolina, and Syracuse en route to their date with UCF. The game marks the second-straight trip to a bowl game after these two teams squared off in 2022 at the Military Bowl.

UCF has played in 14 bowl games and has a 6-8 record in those games. The Knights have been to a bowl game every year since the 2016 season. Last year, the Knights played in the Military Bowl and lost to the Duke Blue Devils 30-18.

UCF and Georgia Tech have played five times in their history, with Georgia Tech winning the first three meeting, and the Knights winning each of the last two, including their meeting last season, a 27-10 regular season victory for UCF in Orlando.
