Lincoln Riley was reportedly back in Big 12 Country looking for his next quarterback, according to a new report.
KSO’s Derek Young reported on Saturday that the two met this weekend to discuss the possibility of Kansas State quarterback Will Howard taking his talents to the west coast to join USC for its inaugural season in the Big Ten Conference.
The Trojans will be in the market for a quarterback with star and 2022 Heisman winner Caleb Williams expected to enter the 2024 NFL Draft. And Howard is projected to be one of the top players in the transfer portal this offseason.
Howard has developed into a top college quarterback, despite only being a Top 70 quarterback in the Class of 2020. In 34 games at Kansas State across four years, Howard threw for 5786 yards, 48 touchdowns and 25 interceptions. This season, Howard totaled 2,643 yards and a touchdown to interception ratio of 24-10. The Pennsylvania native also added 80 carries for 364 yards and nine scores on the ground.
He led Kansas State to a 2022 Big 12 Championship, handing TCU its only loss before making the College Football Playoff.
As for Kansas State, they’re expected to transition to highly-touted rising true sophomore Avery Johnson, who played at times alongside Howard during the 2023 season. The transfer portal officially opens up on Monday, December 4th.
