While there is no official confirmation that the pair met in Manhattan, Lane Kiffin could be on the hunt for a new quarterback despite the Rebels’ starting quarterback Jaxson Dart being likely to return.
Meetings for the former Wildcat signal caller are nothing new as Howard is one of the top quarterbacks available in the transfer portal this offseason. While Kiffin may be one of the first coaches to set up a meeting with Howard, he was bested by USC head coach Lincoln Riley who reportedly met with Howard on Saturday.
Howard has developed into a top college quarterback at Kansas State, despite only being a Top 70 quarterback in the Class of 2020. Howard was an off-and-on starter for the Wildcats during his four-year career but blossomed into a special talent while leading Kansas State to a Big 12 Championship in 2022.
Howard threw for 5786 yards, 48 touchdowns, and 25 interceptions in his career under Chris Klieman. Howard finished off his career at Kansas State as the program’s leading passer with XX career passing touchdowns, In his senior season in Manhattan, the Pennsylvania native totaled 2,643 yards and a touchdown touchdown-to-interception ratio of 24-10. Howard also showed off some ability in the rushing attack totaling 80 carries for 364 yards and nine scores on the ground.
While Kansas State is set on turning the page to a four-star, top-100 quarterback in Avery Johnson, Howard’s future looks bright with many possibilities ahead.
