Six Big 12 Teams in Men’s Basketball AP Poll

NCAA Basketball: Final Four-National Championship-Kansas vs North Carolina

Six Big 12 teams were among the nation’s best as the Associated Press Men’s Basketball Top 25 was released after the season’s fourth week of games.

The Big 12 ranked teams included:

Kansas at No. 2 (No. 5 last week);

Houston at No. 3 (No. 6 last week);

Baylor at No. 6 (No. 9 last week);

Texas at No. 12 (No. 16 last week);

BYU at No. 14 (No. 19 last week);

Oklahoma at No. 19 (No. 25 last week).

Two other Big 12 teams received votes, meaning that eight of the league’s 14 teams received at least one vote this week.

Houston (8-0) won its only game last week, beating Xavier, 66-60 on the road. Houston will host Rice on Wednesday and Jackson State on Saturday. Houston has one more ranked team ahead before Big 12 play, as they face Texas A&M in Houston on Dec. 16.

Kansas (7-1) won two games last week. The Jayhawks beat Eastern Illinois, 71-63, and then No. 4 UConn, 69-65, in a matchup of the last two national champions. Kansas has two games this week — vs. Kansas City on Tuesday and vs. Missouri on Saturday.

Baylor (7-0) played just one game last week, hosting Northwestern State and defeated the Demons, 91-40. Baylor will host Seton Hall before taking an 11-day break leading into its neutral site game with Michigan State on Dec. 16.

Texas (6-1) played one game last week, defeating Texas State, 77-58. Texas will be at Marquette on Wednesday, which pits them against their former coach, Shaka Smart. Following that, Texas hosts Houston Christian on Saturday.
