With transfer portal season officially upon us, college football fans are beginning to witness big names from their favorite teams announce their decision to enter the portal.
Kansas State wide receiver RJ Garcia became the next big name to hit the portal for the Wildcats, with Garcia announcing on Friday that he would be entering the transfer portal with two years of eligibility remaining.
While Garcia dealt with injuries in the 2023 season that kept him on the sidelines, he was a key player in the Wildcats 2022 Big 12 Championship Game. Garcia finished the title game with seven grabs for 70 yards and a score in the Wildcats win over TCU and finished his career in Manhattan with 22 catches for 260 yards and two scores.
Garcia entered the 2023 season as one of the team’s top receivers but after missing some time due to injuries mixed with the emergence of true freshman Jayce Brown and sophomore Keegan Johnson, Garcia elected to enter his name into the transfer portal.
Kansas State will now have a new spot to fill ahead of the 2024 season, but with this offseason shaping up to include one of the busiest portal cycles in college football history, Klieman should have some options available for replacement.
