While Sonny Dykes and the TCU Horned Frogs had a tough 2023 season, the transfer portal provided some good news for the group on Friday with the commitment of Notre Dame edge rusher Nana Osafo-Mensah.

Osafo-Mensah was a key player for Notre Dame last season as the senior pass rusher recorded three sacks and 20 total tackles for the Fighting Irish.

In his four years with the Irish, Osafo-Mensah recorded a total of 47 tackles, five sacks, and one forced fumble. While Osafo-Mensah’s production hasn’t been ridiculous during his college career, the Texas native is a solid pick-up for TCU’s newly rebuilt defense.

Coming out of high school, Osafo-Mensah was listed as a four-star prospect by the 247Sports index and checked in as the nation’s 222nd-ranked ranked prospect. He was also listed as the 14th-ranked player at his position and the 26th-ranked player in the state of Texas.

NaNa Osafo-Mensah joins a young team in desperate need of leaders on the defensive side of the ball, with multiple starters graduating, entering the transfer portal, and heading to the NFL Draft. Dykes’ squad became the second team in FBS history to miss a bowl game after playing in the National Championship Game in the previous season.
