Former Oklahoma QB Dillon Gabriel Transfers to Oregon
While the Jackson Arnold era is officially beginning for Brent Venables and the Oklahoma Sooners, former Oklahoma quarterback Dillon Gabriel is entering a new journey of his own.
Gabriel announced on Saturday morning that he would be officially committing to Oregon in the transfer portal to play with Dan Lanning and the Ducks.
With Gabriel now officially out the door in Norman, the Sooners will now turn to Jackson Arnold, a five-star freshman quarterback from Denton Guyer High School in Denton, Texas.
Gabriel has been one of the most prolific quarterbacks in college football throughout his career and has thrown for 14,895 yards in that time. The nearly 15,000 yards rank eighth most in FBS history, and with 4,353 yards passing in 2024, Gabriel would pass Case Keenum for No. 1 all-time on that list.
The Hawaii native started his career off in Orlando with the UCF Knights where he spent three seasons before transferring to Oklahoma in 2022.
While Dan Lanning has officially has found his replacement for Bo Nix, Oklahoma will pivot to face a tough task in the 2023 Valero Alamo Bowl against No. 14 Arizona. The matchup between Oklahoma and Arizona kicks off on Thursday, December 28th, at 8:15 PM CT.
