All-American LB Danny Stutsman to Return for Oklahoma in 2024

In the words of Michael Scott, Scranton Branch Manager of the Dunder Mifflin paper company, “My how the turntables.” Last week, Oklahoma fans received some somewhat shocking news when it became apparent that Sooners’ linebacker Danny Stutsman was on the cusp of declaring for the NFL.

After a discussion with Brent Venables seemingly ended with the All-American linebacker’s time in an Oklahoma uniform being a thing of the past, all that was left was an official announcement from Stutsman.

That announcement came on Monday, but instead of confirming what was rumored, it sent Sooner Nation into a frenzy as Stutsman pulled the rug out from everyone with this:

Getting No. 28 back for another season is monumental for an Oklahoma defense that hopes to take another step toward becoming an elite unit.

In 11 games this season, Stutsman leads the Sooners with 99 tackles and 16.0 tackles for loss, adding 3.0 sacks, two forced fumbles, and an interception, which he returned for a pick-six.

With Stutsman and All-American safety Billy Bowman back next season, the Sooners defense could be a force to be reckoned with in its first year in the SEC.
