Michigan Coach Jim Harbaugh Strikes it Rich Despite Suspension

NCAA Football: Michigan Spring Game

Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh is suspended until the end of the regular season due to his part in the much-publicized sign-stealing scandal, but that didn’t prevent him from pocketing a massive $500k bonus as his side defeated Ohio State to clinch a place in the Conference Championship Game.

Harbaugh can make his return for their conference title game against Iowa in Indianapolis and if Michigan emerges victorious, the 59-year-old will receive another $1.5 million for his efforts.

Fans of college football who want to back Michigan to do just that can also look to win big, but not as big as Harbaugh, by checking out these interesting insights into the best NCAAF betting sites. No two sportsbooks are the same and seeking out those who are especially adequate for college sports is key to maximizing your potential payout.

Harbaugh, who was head coach of the San Francisco 49es from 2011 to 2014, has been in charge at Michigan since 2015 and has three Big Ten titles to his name from that period and continues to make an impact with the Wolverines.

Some believe he may leave Michigan at the end of the season, including FOX’s Bruce Feldman, who stated,

“I think it’s going to be another search for Harbaugh. I think there is a legit chance this may be his last season at his alma mater,”

“Last year, he really flirted with the Denver Broncos job and ultimately he decided to come back because he wanted to coach this (2023 Michigan) team… all the guys who came back were a big part of Harbaugh deciding to stay one more year.”

“Keep in mind: He’s got 2 NCAA investigations hanging over this program, and it’s not a stretch to think he may have another suspension if he’s the head coach there next year… People know he is a really good NFL coach if he goes that direction,” Feldman said. “…Don’t be surprised if Jim Harbaugh flirts again with the NFL for a third time, and this time, I think it will be really hard for him to say no,” Feldman added.

As for whether the sign-stealing incident would impact the chances of NFL interest in Harbaugh, NFL inside Jay Glazer thinks not,

“All the teams I’ve talked to have said, ‘You know what? Regardless of what we hear in that investigation, that’s not going to affect the way we look at Jim Harbaugh if he wants to come back and coach in the NFL.’ I actually think in the NFL, they’ve kind of moved on from this.”

On the sign-stealing charges, it is worth noting that there are no NCAA rules against teams looking to get an idea as to play-calling signs, with many from the sidelines seeking out relevant clues, but the use of electronic equipment to do so is banned as is scouting in advance, but even then sanctions and punishments related to the offense don’t happen all that often.

The Big Ten accused Michigan of “an organized, extensive, years-long in-person advance scouting scheme,” and therefore opted to ban Harbaugh.
