Kansas State Flips 2024 Three-Star DL Kian Payne From NDSU

NCAA Football: Kansas State at Texas Tech

Chris Klieman and the Kansas State Wildcats added a new name to the Class of 2024 with the commitment of three-star DL Kian Payne.

Payne originally committed to Klieman’s former team, North Dakota State, but after reevaluating his options, the native of Overland Park, Kansas elected to head to Manhattan, Kansas.

Payne is listed as a three-star prospect by the 247Sports index and currently checks in as the 131st-ranked player at his position. He is also listed as the eighth-ranked player in the state of Kansas behind seven different players, three of whom are already committed to K-State including Kaedin Massey, John Price, and Gus Hawkins.

While Kian Payne held offers from 10 different schools including the likes of Wisconsin, North Dakota State, Colorado State, North Dakota State, and more, Payne elected to commit to Kansas State as a preferred walk-on rather than accepting a scholarship elsewhere.

Payne became the second prospect to commit to Kansas State on Tuesday joining four-star wide receiver Trae Davis in the Wildcats’ Class of 2024.

Payne, Davis, and the rest of Kansas State’s future commits will have the opportunity to watch their future squad take on the No. 19 NC State Wolfpack in the Pop-Tarts Bowl on Thursday, December 28th.
