Texas Tech Lands Former Elon TE Johncarlos Miller II in Transfer Portal
While the transfer portal provides the opportunity for teams to lose key players through outgoing departures, it also has the ability to help a team bring in key players each offseason.
Joey McGuire and the Texas Tech Red Raiders recently added a new name to their squad ahead of the 2024 season with the commitment of former Elon tight end Johncarlos Miller II.
Miller was a big piece of the Phoenix passing attack in 2023 as he brought in 25 catches for 453 yards and four touchdowns in his junior season. Miller totaled 50 garbs for 643 yards and seven scores in his three seasons at Elon and will now become a major piece for Texas Tech’s passing game in the upcoming season.
Coming out of high school, Miller was unranked by most major recruiting services, but after earning Second-Team All-Conference honors with Elon in his junior year, the North Carolina native will now have an opportunity to head to Lubbock ahead of his senior season.
Miller became the Red Raiders’ eighth addition through the transfer portal this offseason, and with the portal already featuring a record number of players, that number should continue to climb for Joey McGuire’s squad.
