Former Kansas State Safety Kobe Savage Transfers to Oregon: Report

Kobe Savage, Kansas State Football vs. Texas Football

Former Kansas State safety Kobe Savage has his sights set on a new home for the upcoming season with a recent report from On3’s Matt Zenitz.

Savage reportedly has elected to transfer to Oregon after spending the weekend in Eugene on an official visit. The Texas native will now team up with Dan Lanning and the Ducks for his final season of college football.

Savage was a massive part of Chris Klieman’s defense in the 2023 and started every game of the season for the Wildcats. Savage finished his senior season off with 57 total tackles and three interceptions.

Savage spent two seasons at the JUCO level with Tyler Junior College before electing to join Chris Klieman and the Wildcats in Manhattan for his junior and senior seasons. The Texas native recorded 115 tackles, six interceptions, and one forced fumble during his time as a Wildcat.

Kansas State will now have a major need in the transfer portal to address with one of the best players on defense heading to Oregon. While rumblings of Savage possibly transferring emerged over what was already a tough weekend for Wildcats fans, the loss still comes as a bit of a shock.

Chris Klieman will have his hands full with a brand new team in 2024 as Savage joins Will Howard, Treshaun Ward, Nate Matlack, and more in departing from Kansas State.
