West Virginia Lands Louisville DB Josh Minkins Jr. in the Transfer Portal

NCAA Football: Big 12 Football Media Days

The West Virginia Mountaineers have beefed up a position of need, landing Louisville defensive back Josh Minkins Jr. in the transfer portal.

Minkins chose WVU over offers from Cincinnati, Georgia Tech, and Tulsa and shared the news on his social media pages.

Minkins Jr. was a Top 50 safety in the country coming out of high school and a three-star prospect, according to 247Sports.

During his Louisville career, Minkins Jr. totaled 99 tackles, three pass deflections, two interceptions, a forced fumble, and a sack.

Minkins Jr. is the second portal addition for WVU and the second defensive back to join the Mountaineers in the portal, along with former Duquesne cornerback Ayden Garnes, who announced he would be joining the program earlier in the week.

The Mountaineers are set to wrap up the season in the Duke’s Mayo Bowl later this month, when they take on the North Carolina Tar Heels.
