BYU Flips Three-Star JUCO DL Danny Saili from Texas Tech
Kalani Sitake and the BYU Cougars added a new name to the Class of 2024 with the commitment of three-star JUCO DL Danny Saili.
While the Cougars helped themselves by adding a talented player to their roster, they also managed to wrangle Saili away from a fellow Big 12 team, the Texas Tech Red Raiders.
Coming out of Hutchinson Community College, Saili was listed as a three-star prospect by the 247Sports index and the nation’s 18th-ranked JUCO prospect. He also was listed as the seventh-ranked player in his class and the fifth-ranked player in the state of Kansas.
Saili, a native of Topeka Kansas, is listed at a whopping 6-foot-2, 355-pounds. Last season with the Blue Dragons, Saili recorded 21 tackles and four sacks on the interior defensive line.
Saili commented on his decision talking about NIL saying, “I have flipped my commitment to BYU!! I was not promised a car, any money, but a chance to grow as a football player and as a member of the LDS church!!”
While the BYU Cougars narrowly missed out on a bowl game in 2023 after failing to win a sixth game of the year, the Cougars will have multiple opportunities in the offseason to get better through both high school recruiting, and the transfer portal.
