Four Big 12 Teams in Women’s Basketball AP Poll

Kansas State guard Serena Sundell.

The Big 12 saw four of its teams make the AP Top 25 Women’s Basketball Top 25, released on Monday after Week 6 of the season. That included a newcomer.

Those teams included:

Texas at No. 5 (No. 5 last week);

Baylor at No. 10 (No. 10 last week);

Kansas State tied at No. 12 (tied with Ohio State at No. 12 last week);

TCU at No. 25 (was receiving votes last week).

Plus, two Big 12 teams received votes but were outside the Top 25.

Texas (11-0) won one game last week defeating Arizona, 88-75, on the road. Texas has just one game before their holiday break as they travel to Edinburg, Texas, to take on UT-Rio Grande Valley on Wednesday.

Baylor (9-0) won two games last week. The Bears beat Delaware State, 99-37, in their final game at the Ferrell Center, and then beat No. 24 Miami (FL), 75-57, in San Antonio. This week the Bears will head to Florida for a multi-team event that will see them play Providence on Wednesday and South Florida on Thursday.

Kansas State (10-1) won its only game last week, as the Wildcats beat North Florida, 79-53. The Wildcats have two games ahead this week, both at home, against Oral Roberts on Monday and Southern on Wednesday.

TCU (11-0) is in the Top 25 for the first time this season under new coach Matt Campbell. The Horned Frogs played one game last week, defeating Lamar, 68-51. The Horned Frogs have two home games this week — vs. Omaha on Wednesday and Mount St. Mary’s on Friday. That will wrap up TCU’s non-conference schedule before their Big 12 opener against BYU on Dec. 30.
