Texas Tech LB Jesiah Pierre Enters Transfer Portal
With transfer portal season officially upon us, college football fans are beginning to witness big names from their favorite teams announce their decision to enter the portal.
According to a report from On3’s Matt Zenitz, Texas Tech linebacker Jesiah Pierre is entering the transfer portal as a grad transfer with one season of eligibility remaining.
Pierre was a big part of Joey McGuire’s defense in 2023 totaling 66 tackles, 0.5 sacks, and one fumble recovery. Pierre started his career off at Florida before transferring to Texas Tech in 2021. In four seasons of college football, Pierre recorded 141 tackles, five sacks, one forced fumble, and one pass breakup.
Coming out of high school, Pierre was listed as a three-star prospect by the On3 Industry Ranking and checked in as the nation’s 670th-ranked prospect. He was also listed as the 83rd-ranked linebacker in his class and the 85th-ranked player in the state of Florida.
Texas Tech will now have a new spot to fill ahead of the 2024 season, but with this offseason shaping up to include one of the busiest portal cycles in college football history, Joey McGuire should have some options available for replacement.
