With transfer portal season officially upon us, college football fans are beginning to witness big names from their favorite teams announce their decision to enter the portal.

According to a report from On3 Sports, former Baylor running back Qualan Jones is entering the transfer portal after being dismissed from the team in the offseason and missing his senior season.

While Jones did not play football in 2023, he was an important piece for Dave Aranda in the year prior. Jones complied 462 yards and seven scores in 2022 while averaging five yards per carry. During his time in Waco, Jones totaled 689 yards and nine scores on 139 carries.

Coming out of high school, Jones was listed as a three-star prospect by the 247Sports index as well as the nation’s 494th-ranked prospect. He also checked in as the 33rd-ranked player at his position and the 62nd-ranked player in the state of Texas.

While the loss of Jones doesn’t have much impact on the future of Baylor for the 2024 season seeing as Jones was not on the roster for 2023, the Texas native now has a shot to get back on his feet and contribute with a major team somewhere in the world of college football.
