Former Middle Tennessee State OT Sterling Porcher Transfers to Texas Tech
While the transfer portal provides the opportunity for teams to lose key players through outgoing departures, it also has the ability to help a team bring in key players each offseason.
Joey McGuire and the Texas Tech Red Raiders added a new name to their roster ahead of the 2024 season with the addition of former Middle Tennessee State OT Sterling Porcher.
Porcher was a major piece on the o-line for the Blue Raiders this season as he started and played in all 12 games for Middle Tennessee State. Listed at 6-foot-4, 304 pounds, Porcher is a nice pick up for a Texas Tech squad looking to rebuild their depth at offensive line.
Porcher was unranked by most major recruiting services out of high school and eventually made the jump to play JUCO football at Iowa Western Community College. The South Carolina native spent two seasons at Iowa Western and helped lead the team to a 10-1 record in 2021 and earn a spot in the NJCAA National Championship Game.
Porcher then elected to commit to Middle Tennessee State after two seasons with Iowa Western and started 25 straight games for the Blue Raiders from 2022-2023.
Joey McGuire and the Red Raiders have been on the hunt for solid prospects on the offensive line this season, and with the addition of Porcher, the group is starting to round out. Still, with the transfer portal already featuring a record number of entries this offseason, McGuire and company should have more names following closely behind.
