TCU, UCF Listed as Schools to Watch for Arkansas QB Transfer KJ Jefferson

When former Arkansas quarterback KJ Jefferson announced that he would be entering his name into the transfer portal, quarterback-needy teams around the country took notice.

While Jefferson should command loads of interest in the portal this offseason, two Big 12 teams were labeled as teams to watch with both TCU and UCF mentioned by On3’s Pete Nakos.

Jefferson was one of the nation’s most productive players during his time with the Razorbacks throwing for 7,923 yards and a touchdown to interception ratio of 67-18. He has also added another 19 scores on the ground during his career as well as 1,876 yards.

In his senior season, Jefferson led Arkansas to a X-X record with 2,107 passing yards and 19 touchdowns while sporting a completion percentage of 64.2%.

With both TCU and UCF having some questions about the quarterback position ahead of 2024, going after Jefferson makes a lot of sense. TCU recently lost Chandler Morris to the transfer portal after true freshman Josh Hoover earned the starting job in 2024. While Hoover had some big moments in his first year, he also had some lapses that hurt the Horned Frogs season. UCF on the other hand lost their veteran quarterback John Rhys Plumlee after he used his final season of eligibility in Orlando.

Jefferson’s recruitment in the transfer portal will be an interesting story to watch but with two Big 12 teams in hot pursuit of the former Razorback, the Big 12 Conference may just add another spectacular quarterback to its ranks.
