Look: Outlandish Trophy of the Year Contender from the Birmingham Bowl
While college football bowl season is known for some wild trophies and themes including the Pop-Tarts Bowl, Mayo Bowl, and Idaho Potato Bowl, the trophy from the Birmingham Bowl may take the cake for the most unique.
Following Duke’s 17-10 win over Troy, the team was awarded the famous Vulcan Trophy which is making the rounds on social media for including some unique features in its design.
While watching the Birmingham Bowl is one thing, the trophy is a sight to behold in its own right. Interim head coach Trooper Traylor’s squad took care of business on Saturday in an effort to hoist the Vulcan Trophy.
The Vulcan is modeled after a famous landmark in one of Alabama’s most-populated cities, and while the miniature statue does replicate the bare necessities of the full-size landmark, the trophy creators may have went a little too in depth with the award.
Needless to say, while most feel that lifting up a championship trophy is the preferred one to hoist, the trophy from the Birmingham Bowl deserves its flowers.
