With transfer portal season officially upon us, college football fans are beginning to witness big names from their favorite teams announce their decision to enter the portal.

According to a report from 247Sports’ Matt Zenitz, Oklahoma quarterback Davis Beville is entering the transfer portal after spending the previous two seasons in Norman.

While Beville didn’t see the field in 2023 as he was listed behind Dillon Gabriel and Jackson Arnold on the depth chart, he saw action in five games in 2022 in relief of the injured Gabriel. Beville started his career at Pittsburgh and spent two seasons with the panthers before transferring to OU in 2022. During his four years of college football, Beville accounted for 339 yards and and a touchdown to interception ratio of one to two.

Coming out of high school, Beville was listed as a three-star prospect by the 247Sports index as well as the nation’s 554th-ranked player. He also checked in as the 22nd-ranked player at his position and the seventh-ranked player in the state of South Carolina.

While the loss of Beville doesn’t change much in Norman in terms of the starting roster, the Sooners will now have a new spot to fill ahead of the 2024 season. Still, with this offseason shaping up to include one of the busiest portal cycles in college football history, Brent Venables should have some options available for replacement
