How To Watch Big 12 Biggest Women’s Basketball Games For Week 8

Baylor guard Sarah Andrews.

The Big 12 women’s basketball season hits Week 8 on Monday and it’s time to get ready for Big 12 action, which starts on Saturday.

So, this week’s TV schedule will look a little slimmer than it has been in non-conference. Just one team opted for a tune-up game before the league openers, with Texas playing on Wednesday. The rest have opted not to play until Saturday.

Here’s the complete schedule, how to watch each game and, if you’re so inclined, the three must-watch games of the week.

Baylor at Texas

How To Watch: 1 p.m., Saturday, Fox

Yes, it’s on Fox. It’s one of three women’s games that will be on Fox or Fox Sports 1 this season, per the Big 12 schedule. The network picked the perfect game for opening weekend, too, as the Bears and the Longhorns are undefeated going into the game. This is one of the conference’s best women’s basketball rivalries and one we’ll lose when Texas heads to the SEC. So take it all in now.

West Virginia at Kansas

How to Watch: Noon, Saturday, Big 12 Now on ESPN+

This is a really unique game because of the coaching matchup. Before Kansas, Brandon Schneider was the head coach at Stephen F. Austin. When Schneider took over the Jayhawks, Mark Kellogg replaced him. Kellogg has led WVU to an undefeated start. But they go back further than SFA. They led their respective Division II teams — Kellogg’s Fort Lewis State Skyhawks and Schneider’s Emporia State Hornets — to the 2010 Division II title game, where the Hornets won.

In the context of this game, WVU wants to make a statement against one of the most experienced teams in the Big 12. Kansas, meanwhile, has played a rough schedule and needs to start racking up some high-major wins.

BYU at TCU

How to Watch: 4 p.m., Saturday, Big 12 Now on ESPN+

So, who’s for real? We start to find out on Saturday. TCU is undefeated under first-year coach Mark Campbell and between center Sedona Prince and guard Madison Conner the Horned Frogs have racked up some of the most impressive numbers in the country. But TCU only has one win over a high-major opponent.

BYU is new to the Big 12 and is 10-3 going into league action. Forward Lauren Gustin is a double-double machine and Kailey Woolston, like Conner, is a 3-point shooting machine. Woolston is right at 50 percent from distance. It has the potential to be the highest-scoring game of the day.
